International Organizations demonstrate solidarity with women of Iran on International Women's Day
Change for Equality has called on its international partners to use the month of March as a time to highlight the efforts of Iranian women to create a more equal and just society
. The One Million Signatures Campaign is one of the most prominent tools of the women's rights movement in Iran. The One Million Signatures Campaign works to end the discriminatory laws in Iran against women.
The One Million Signatures Campaign is a collaborative and broadbased movement to fight for greater gender equality in Iranian society, most notably removing discriminatory laws. Since the inception of the campaign the women's rights activists have faced increasing repression by the government of Iran. In the past year the persecution has intensified with widespread arrests of women's rights activists, female journalists and relatives.
The signatures for the campaign can only come from Iranian nationals and children of Iranian nationals. Therefore, the international community has chosen to demonstrate their solidarity with the women's mov
ement in Iran by highlighting their efforts. There is also a petition of international support which activists can sign to demonstrate their solidarity with the women's movement in Iran.
